After three straight trips to the NBA Finals and a title in 2016, you’d think the Cleveland Cavaliers would use this offseason to gear up for another run at the game’s biggest stage. But that’s not the case. Instead, it’s as if the Eastern Conference champs are taking a play right out the Phil Jackson front office playbook, creating an environment bordering on dysfunctional. And now, the chaos is making its way toward the team uniforms.
That’s right, just as quickly as word leaked out about Kyrie Irving’s surprising trade request, it appears the S.S. Cleveland Cavaliers — OK, so that’s obviously not an actual name of a ship (at least we think it’s not), but we’re working with a metaphor here — is not finished leaking.
The original post, which came from @josh_tep, has since been deleted according to Uni Watch’s Paul Lukas. However, using other tweets (like the one above), Conrad Burry of Sportslogos.net provided mockups of what the uniforms could end up looking like.
These uniforms are definitely bolder than the Cavs threads we’re used to seeing. To be honest, we’re not quite sure how we feel about them yet. But one thing’s for sure, this latest mishap only further showcases the roller coaster ride that has been the Cleveland Cavaliers’ 2017 offseason. If only everyone loved roller coasters.
